Hyperliquid Policy Center: Project Guide | Latest Updates, Presale & Airdrop

Q: What is the Purpose of Hyperliquid Policy Center?

The purpose is to provide a decentralized 'Everything Exchange' that offers a seamless, transparent, and high-performance trading environment for crypto and synthetic assets without the counterparty risks associated with centralized platforms.

Q: How Can I Participate in Hyperliquid Policy Center's Ecosystem?

Users can participate by trading perpetuals or spot assets on the DEX, staking HYPE tokens to secure the network and earn rewards, or providing liquidity to the HLP vault. Developers can also build new dApps on the HyperEVM layer.

Q: What Sets Hyperliquid Policy Center Apart from Competitors?

It is distinguished by its vertically integrated architecture (custom L1 + DEX), its rejection of VC funding, its fully on-chain order book that eliminates off-chain dependencies, and its ability to process 200,000+ orders per second with sub-second finality.

Q: Is Hyperliquid Policy Center Secure?

Hyperliquid utilizes HyperBFT consensus for network security and has undergone audits. As a non-custodial platform, users retain control of their private keys, mitigating the risk of CEX-style collapses like FTX.

Q: What are the Risks Associated with Hyperliquid Policy Center?

Risks include smart contract vulnerabilities, potential regulatory scrutiny of decentralized derivatives, and the high volatility associated with leveraged trading. The team manages these through a cautious validator onboarding process and continuous protocol optimizations.

What is Hyperliquid Policy Center?

Hyperliquid Policy Center refers to the governing and operational infrastructure of the Hyperliquid Layer 1 blockchain and its decentralized exchange (DEX). Its primary purpose is to provide a high-performance, transparent, and self-custodial financial system that rivals centralized exchanges (CEXs) in speed while maintaining the security and decentralization of DeFi. Its mission is to create an 'Everything Exchange' where various asset classes, including perpetuals, spot, and synthetic assets, are traded on a unified, on-chain system.

How Does Hyperliquid Policy Center Work?

Hyperliquid operates on a custom-built Layer 1 blockchain using a proprietary consensus mechanism called HyperBFT, inspired by the HotStuff protocol. The architecture is divided into two main domains: HyperCore, which manages high-throughput financial operations like order matching and liquidations natively in Rust; and HyperEVM, an Ethereum-compatible environment that allows developers to deploy smart contracts. This dual-layer approach ensures that trades achieve sub-second finality (~0.2s) while supporting complex decentralized applications.

What Makes Hyperliquid Policy Center Unique?

Unlike many DEXs that use off-chain matching engines or rely on automated market makers (AMMs), Hyperliquid features a fully on-chain central limit order book (CLOB). It is uniquely self-funded, having rejected venture capital to remain community-aligned. Key features include the Hyperliquidity Provider (HLP) vault for automated market making, permissionless perpetual market creation (HIP-3), and outcome markets for prediction trading (HIP-4), allowing it to capture significant market share from both CEXs and traditional DeFi protocols.

Who Are the Founders of Hyperliquid Policy Center?

Hyperliquid was founded by Jeff Yan and a pseudonymous co-founder known as iliensinc. Jeff Yan is a Harvard graduate (Mathematics and Computer Science) and a former quantitative trader at Hudson River Trading, an elite high-frequency trading firm. His expertise in low-latency systems and market microstructure shaped the platform's focus on performance. The project is developed by Hyperliquid Labs, a lean team of roughly a dozen engineers and contributors, and was entirely bootstrapped with profits from Yan's previous trading ventures.

What Key Events Have There Been for Hyperliquid Policy Center?

Significant milestones include the launch of the public mainnet in late 2023, the Genesis HYPE airdrop in November 2024, and the introduction of native staking in December 2024. In 2025 and 2026, the protocol implemented HIP-3 for permissionless markets and HIP-4 for outcome markets. A major recent event in July 2026 was the inclusion of the HYPE token in the Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF (BITW), signaling its arrival into the top tier of institutional crypto assets.

Upcoming Events:

Latest Airdrop

While the Genesis Airdrop (Season 1) concluded on November 29, 2024, distributing 310M HYPE tokens, the protocol has reserved approximately 38.8% of the total supply for 'future emissions and community rewards.' This suggests a 'Season 2' or ongoing rewards program for active traders and stakers is highly probable, though specific dates and criteria remain TBA.

ICO Time

N/A - Hyperliquid did not conduct a traditional ICO; it was self-funded and distributed via a points-based retroactive airdrop.

IDO Time

N/A - The token was launched directly via a Genesis Distribution event to community members.

TGE Time

The Token Generation Event (TGE) for HYPE took place on November 29, 2024, at 10:30 UTC.

Project Announcements:

Recent updates include the rollout of portfolio margin in beta to increase capital efficiency for traders and the expansion of the validator set from 24 to 27 to enhance network decentralization. The platform also recently announced data integration with TradingView and the sunsetting of older HIP-3 test markets to focus on more liquid trading pairs.

Reputable analysts from firms like Multicoin Capital and Blockworks Research highlight Hyperliquid's strong revenue generation—reaching hundreds of millions in the first half of 2026—as a key driver for long-term value. Some media reports cite expert targets as high as $319 by 2028 if Hyperliquid succeeds in capturing a larger share of the global derivatives market.
