DOVU is a next-generation climate finance platform and Trust Operating System built on the Hedera network. Its mission is to accelerate the transition to net-zero by enabling the transparent digitization, verification, and trading of carbon credits and other ecological assets at scale. By connecting farmers, businesses, and governments, DOVU aims to create a trustworthy global marketplace for high-quality carbon offsets stored in the Earth's soil.
How Does DOVU Work?
DOVU leverages the Hedera Guardian and DOVU OS to create a verifiable audit trail for environmental data. Carbon sequestration projects (such as farms) are onboarded and verified using satellites, AI, and digital MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification) technologies. Once verified, these assets are minted as carbon NFTs or tokens, which can then be purchased and 'retired' by individuals or corporations on the DOVU Marketplace to offset their carbon footprint.
What Makes DOVU Unique?
DOVU is unique for its use of 'Dynamic NFTs' and 'Blueprints' which allow for the continuous update of evidence regarding carbon storage over time, ensuring that credits represent actual carbon in the ground rather than just a one-time promise. It also distinguishes itself through its strategic focus on soil carbon—representing 75% of land-based carbon—and its 'Trust Operating System' that bridges the gap between complex sustainability data and institutional ESG needs.
Who Are the Founders of DOVU?
DOVU was founded by Irfon Watkins and Krasina Mileva. Irfon Watkins is an experienced entrepreneur with a background in building and scaling technology companies. Krasina Mileva, a lawyer by profession, serves as the CEO and has been a director since the project's inception, providing the necessary legal and operational structure for scaling. They are joined by CTO Matt Smithies, a key figure in the Hedera ecosystem who leads the technical research and development.
