Initia

Initia is a network for 0-to-1 omnichain rollups built by fusing a novel L1 with an interwoven application-specific L2 infrastructure system. The Initia Platform provides product ready rollups that enables teams to build scalable and sovereign systems while eliminating the UX complexities end users face when interacting with a modular multi-chain universe. Initia’s ownership of the full tech stack allows for a suite of chain-level mechanisms that align the economic interests across users, developers, L2 app chains, and the L1.

What is Initia?

Initia is a modular blockchain platform that integrates a Cosmos SDK-based Layer 1 (L1) with interwoven optimistic rollups, known as Minitias, to deliver high throughput and near-instant finality. Its mission is to eliminate fragmentation in the multichain ecosystem by enabling developers to deploy customizable appchains that share liquidity, security, and governance.

How Does Initia Work?

Initia operates by combining a secure L1 blockchain with interconnected Layer 2 (L2) rollups. The L1, built using the Cosmos SDK, serves as the coordination and liquidity hub, while the Minitias function as application-specific rollups that inherit security from the L1. This architecture allows for seamless interoperability and scalability across the network.

What Makes Initia Unique?

Initia stands out due to its interwoven network of appchains, enshrined liquidity mechanism, and support for multiple virtual machines (VMs) including MoveVM, EVM, and WasmVM. These features enable developers to create tailored solutions while benefiting from shared resources and enhanced performance.

Who Are the Founders of Initia?

Initia was founded by Stanford Liu in 2022. Liu previously served as the research lead at Terraform Labs, where he gained experience with blockchain scalability challenges. Co-founder Ezaan 'Zon' Mangalji brings operational expertise to the project, while ecosystem lead OmniscientAsian contributes experience from Sino Global Capital.
