What is Derpetual?

Derpetual (often associated with Perpetual Protocol) is a decentralized exchange (DEX) focused on providing a platform for trading perpetual futures contracts. Its primary mission is to democratize access to advanced financial derivatives by leveraging blockchain technology to remove intermediaries and provide a transparent, permissionless trading environment.

How Does Derpetual Work?

The project operates using a Virtual Automated Market Maker (vAMM) model, which allows for decentralized trading without the need for traditional liquidity providers to stake assets in a 1:1 ratio. Instead, the vAMM manages price discovery on-chain, while a collateralization vault ensures that trades are settled and positions are backed by user-deposited assets.

What Makes Derpetual Unique?

Derpetual stands out by offering high-leverage trading on a variety of crypto assets with low slippage and no expiration dates on contracts. Key use cases include hedging existing spot positions against market volatility and speculating on price movements with borrowed capital in a fully non-custodial manner.

Who Are the Founders of Derpetual?

The project was founded by Yenwen Feng and Shao-Kang Lee, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in the tech and blockchain sectors. Their expertise spans software engineering, startup scaling, and decentralized finance, contributing to the protocol's robust technical architecture and community-driven growth.
